Who is responsible

TapWorldChamps is an independent, non-commercial archive of the IDO World Tap Dance Championships results. The controller of the personal data on this website is Otto Kočí, otto.koci@gmail.com, contact: info@tapworldchamps.com. We are not connected to the International Dance Organization (IDO).

What we publish and where it comes from

Only what the IDO has already published in the official results on ido-dance.com: the year and category, the placing, the name of the dancer, duo or team, and the country. Results from 1991 to 2006 come from the book History of the IDO World Tap dance Championships 1991–2023 by Michael Wendt (used with his permission), and Ask can search its text. For some years the title of the choreography is stored for search. We do not publish photos, ages, dates of birth, clubs, contact details or any other information about dancers.

Why, and on what legal basis

The purpose is a searchable historical archive and statistics of public sports results for the tap dance community: dancers, parents, teachers, clubs and national associations. The legal basis is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in documenting and analysing public championship results.

Many dancers are children, so we keep the archive to what is necessary: only the published results, dancer pages are hidden from search engines (noindex), and any name is removed on request, without giving reasons.

Removing a name

If you, or your child, do not want to appear in the archive, write to info@tapworldchamps.com with the name and a link to one of the results. We replace the name with “Name withheld” in all results, also after future updates, normally within a few days and at the latest within one month. Removing a name here does not change the official results on ido-dance.com.
